Algorithmic Specialist
Ian is an experienced reservoir simulation software developer with more than 25 years in the oil and gas industry. He joined RKS from Schlumberger where he was Team Leader of a Physics Asset team on the Intersect reservoir simulator, to which he was a major contributor for almost ten years. Prior to that he developed software for non-linearly constrained production optimization in the ECLIPSE compositional simulator, was the author of the SimOpt computer-aided history matching software, lead developer of a PVT thermodynamics package, and contributed to various other pre- and post- processing software for both Schlumberger and Roxar. Although Ian entered the industry from a background of research in theoretical astrophysics, these days he prefers to focus on delivering high quality, focused, maintainable commercial software whilst enjoying the challenges of capturing physics in pragmatic mathematical models.
